How far from Otago Polytechnic is the Village?

It’s just a two minute walk away – How easy is that!

How do you get to the Village?

Getting to the village is easy. Simply follow the directions here or check out the directions below:

OPSV is at 190 Union St East. It’s right next to Logan Park Fields. There is also pedestrian access from Harbour Terrace opposite the Otago Polytechnic.

If you need to get to the Village from the airport, here are some directions to help you out!

1. Make your way to State Highway 1

2. Follow SH1 until you turn right onto the ramp to Otago Peninsula

3. Keep left following signs to the harbour basin

4. Merge onto Thomas Burns St

5. Merge onto St Andrews St

6. Turn right onto SH 88 (Signs for Port Chalmers)

7. Turn left onto Anzac Ave

8. Turn Left onto Union St E

9. OPSV will be on you right!

What's student life like in Dunedin?

Dunedin plays host to a vibrant local student community and the Village is situated in the heart of Dunedin, you’ll never be short of something to do!

Can two people live in one room?

All rooms are single occupancy only.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not allowed at the Village.

Is there car parking?

There will be some parking spaces available to purchase.

Is smoking allowed?

The Village is smokefree in all areas, Otago Polytechnic is also smokefree.

Is it co-ed?

Yes – the Village is mixed.

When can I move in?

The Village opens in 2018, arrival dates will be confirmed once you receive your contract.

Is my bond refundable if I am not accepted to Otago Polytechnic?

Yes, fees are refundable (excluding administration fees) as long as you withdraw before the withdrawal date on your contract.

Do I need my own insurance?

Yes – talk to your preferred provider to organise this.

What kind of programmes and events do you have?

Live, Learn, Grow is the program run by OPSV that supports residents to get the most out of their time studying. Our aim is to support our residents to succeed academically while making lifelong friends and experiencing personal growth.

Is catering available?

Catering is included in all of our single dorm rooms and is available as paid meal packages for anyone else in the village.

Residents are able to purchase meal packages ranging from one off meals through to whole year plans. Come and talk to us at the Village office to find out what meal plans are available for purchase.

When can I apply?

Applications are open! Click on the apply now button to get started.

Can I bring my own bed and furniture?

No – all rooms and social spaces are fully furnished, all you need to bring is yourself and your personal items.

What are the payment options?

By Term only (10 weeks) totaling 4 payments per year. International Students pay by Semester in Advance.

When will I know if my application is successful?

We will make contact with further info and offers of accommodation in early September.
